“All media are extensions of some human faculty-psychic or physical”, quotes Marshall McLunhan. The legs of this chair are extension of human’s and animals’ legs. Nowadays, many animal species have been endangered or even exterminated, because they are hunted for their furs to decorate humans’ own appearance, for their viscera to strengthen humans’ own body strength, and for anything else that is thought to be beneficial to human beings. The hybrid of a chair with lions’ legs is weird. So is a beauty dressed in fur clothing. So it is to treat liver disease and diabetes with bile from bears. So is every hunt of animals for humans’ own benefits. Through the oddness of the chair, my work aims to appeal to people’s awareness that animals and human beings are equal in nature, and we need each other to achieve an ecological equilibrium, to survive, and to thrive on the same magnitude.
